Free hula lessons & more at Whaler’s Village

Did you know that you can enjoy a lot of fun (for free!) at Whaler’s Village? It’s just a short stroll down the beachfront path from your spacious condo at Kaanapali Alii. Yes everyday there’s a reason to drop by this exciting center. On Thursdays from 3-4 p.m. you can enjoy free hula lessons in the ABC Store courtyard. All ages can join in the fun!

And on Sundays from 6-8 p.m. you’ll find live Hawaiian music in the lower courtyard. A perfect pre or post-dinner treat!

And on Tuesdays through early September, Whaler’s Village is offering a free Movie Night under the stars. Just come by to relax and watch the show with family. Here’s the schedule:

New Intro to Fitness session free for guests

Get started on an enjoyable path to good health during your luxury condo vacation. Each session of Introduction to Fitness is tailored to the interests and fitness levels of the guests.

Kaanapali Alii’s Fitness Trainer Tom Ockerman draws on 23 years of experience in fitness, nutrition, anti-aging, trigger point therapy and related expertise. The state-of-the-art Fitness Center includes Matrix equipment, a yoga stretching studio, and spa treatment rooms. Expansive windows offer inspiring views of Maui’s tropical flowers & trees.

Introducing the GolfBoard! Why choose between the surf and the golf course?  Now you can take advantage of both at the scenic Ka’anapali Golf Courses next to Kaanapali Alii.

If you enjoy surfing, skateboarding or snowboarding, you are sure to love the GolfBoard. It’s a new way of getting around the Kaanapali Golf Courses. Of course Ka’anapali is best known for its 36 holes of championship golf, but we are also known for offering unique experiences like this one!

GolfBoard was designed with the consultation of surf legend Laird Hamilton.  It’san environmentally friendly lithium-ion battery mode of transportation around the Courses, With its technology and style, the ride is intuitive and easy for most players.  Guests watch a safety instruction and have a lesson with one of Ka’anapali’s staff to ensure proper use and safety. Then they are on their way to surfing the fairways of one of Hawaii’s most legendary tracks. Board rentals are just $25 for a round of 18-holes.

Hawaiian Sailing Canoe Festival June 2-4, 2017

Learn a bit of Hawaiian culture,  strum an easy song, and join in the fun! Great photo ops for social media posts. Ukulele lessons for Kaanapali Alii guests (adults only this time) are led by Fred Torres, Hawaiian Cultural Advisor and hotel manager.

Every Aloha Friday from 10-11 a.m. Limited to a small group. Ukuleles are provided and lots of personal attention will be given to beginners. Sign up at the Pool Desk and gather at the Pool Pavilion. Complimentary.

Whale Watch Season is in full swing

February is often the peak for whale sightings and it’s the month for many fun and educational whale-related events designed for all ages. The Pacific Whale Foundation organizes World Whale Day that goes on for weeks and includes everything from a fun run to a community fair.

One event within Kaanapali Resort is the 1st Annual World Whale Film Festival on February 11.  The goal is to promote visual storytellers who are passionate about whales, dolphins and our oceans. The mission of this Film Festival is to tell powerful stories that inspire ocean and wildlife conservation around the world.  The Film Festival takes place just a short stroll down the beach walk from Kaanapali Alii at the Kaanapali Beach Hotel.

Celebrity Chef Martin Yan & Kaanapali Alii Grill Master

Celebrity Chef Martin Yan of “Yan Can Cook” TV fame enjoyed a luxury condo at Kaanapali Alii during the Hawaii Food & Wine Festival. Of course he stopped by to say hello to the Kaanapali Alii Grill Master McNiel Magdoang.

Grill Master McNiel offers complimentary assistance to guests who bring their favorite foods to the oceanfront grills at sunset. Sharing a barbecue at Kaanapali Alii is a vacation highlight for many. Complimentary plates, cups, flatware, napkins and even aluminum foil make it so easy to barbecue. And the Maui sunset offers continuous photo ops as it sinks into the blue Pacific!

Maui Pineapple Salsa – Kaanapali Alii Grill Master

Grilled Maui Pineapple Salsa

Sunset grilling at Kaanapali Alii enhances the natural sweetness of the fresh tropical fruits and vegetables! Share this delicious salsa with family and friends at our oceanfront grills!

Ingredients:

1 whole Pineapple – cored, outer peel cut off, cut in 1 inch thick rings
2 each Jalapenos – cut in half, inner seeds and white portion removed
2 medium Maui Onions – cut in ½ inch slices
4 ears Fresh Corn on the cob – husk and silk removed
1 large Red Bell Pepper – cut in ½, seeds removed
2 each Limes – cut in half
1 bunch Cilantro – rinsed and chopped
Pinch Salt & Pepper – to taste

Directions:
• Heat grill with lid closed. 450 degrees is best for grilling. Keep lid closed while cooking.
• Place corn directly on grill. Cook 10 minutes, turning frequently.
• Place Maui pineapple and onion slices directly on grill, turn after 5 minutes. Grill another 5 minutes.
• Place red bell pepper halves and jalapeno halves on grill, turn after 3 minutes. Cook another 2 or 3 minutes.
• Cut cooked corn off cob into a bowl.
• Chop: grilled pineapple, onion, jalapeno, red bell peppers, and cilantro. Mix into bowl with corn. Squeeze 2 limes over the mixture and mix well. Salt and pepper to taste.
• Enjoy as an appetizer with chips or over your favorite grilled chicken or fish!
