We stayed for 11 nights and had the best time ever! Maui is always great, but the Alii far exceeded our expectations. From the moment we arrived until we left, we felt as though we were at a 5 star hotel, not a condo.
Location is perfect, grounds are immaculate, and rooms are kept spotless with daily maid service.
We definitely will stay here again!
We’ve mentioned Farecompare.com to you before but a recent posting was specifically focused on Hawaii. Farecompare CEO Rick Seaney offers lots of advice but this one will interest those of you who don’t live on the West Coast. Rick notes: “… Which leads me to one of my favorite cheapskate Hawaiian strategies – buying a cheap domestic round-trip ticket to Los Angeles or San Francisco (possibly on a low cost airline that doesn’t service the islands) and combining that with a separate round-trip ticket from the coast (leaving appropriate connection time (what I call, leg stretching time) – like a day in Santa Monica, one of my favorite U.S. cities).” Click here to read the full post.
Hawaiian Airlines is now selling tickets for its daily nonstop flights between Tokyo’s Haneda Airport and Honolulu, which will begin in November.
It will make its inaugural flight from Honolulu to Haneda on November 17, 2010 and its inaugural departure from Haneda to Honolulu on November 19, 2010.
Tickets can be purchased by phone or online on the company’s English-language and Japanese-language websites. For more information visit Hawaiianair.com.
Bring Island flavors to your table this holiday season and try this Maui-style recipe for a Hawaiian smoked turkey. Bon Appetit!
- 16 Large ti or banana leaves
- 1/2 Cup softened butter or margarine
- 3 Tablespoons Hawaiian salt
Rinse and drain turkey. Line a large baking pan with foil. Wash ti leaves in a sink of cold water with a few drops of dish soap then rinse. Remove fibrous part of the veins. Line baking pan with ti leaves radiating from center. Place two additional ti leaves across the middle of the pan. Place turkey on the ti leaves. Rub butter, salt, then liquid smoke on inside and outside of turkey. Place 4-6 ti leaves over the turkey. Fold leaves around the turkey. Crimp foil around turkey and cover pan tightly with additional foil. Roast in electric oven at 375 degrees F for 6 hours. Shred turkey and add in pan liquid to moisten meat. Makes 8-10 servings.

Until you have experienced the Kaanapali Alii you really have not experienced The Hawaii Dream. Everything you have ever wanted Hawaii to be can be found there or immediately nearby. Recreation, Food, Shopping, Beach, Golf and on and on. It is all here at the “Alii”. The only negative I can think of is not being able to consider another trip to Maui without having it include a stay at the “Kaanapali Alii”.
Evening sunsets in Kaanapali inspire long walks and what can be more enjoyable than a walk on the scenic Kaanapali Golf Course? Walk the course, play holes 1-6 and save in the late afternoons with Kaanapali Golf Course FIT CLUB.
Located in the Kaanapali Resort, the FIT CLUB is offered daily. Tee off at hole 1 between 4pm – 6pm and play to hole 6 by 6:30pm. Cost is $50 per pass. Pass is valid for the entire month you purchased it in. For more information on this and other exciting Maui activities call our activity specialists at 1-866-661-2544.
Bring the entire family and roll out your blanket on the lawn of the Maui Arts & Cultural Center on Sunday, October 17th at 1:00pm to enjoy a kick-back afternoon celebrating Hawaii’s beloved musical gift from Portugal, the ‘ukulele.
Renowned ‘ukulele advocate and teacher, Roy Sakuma, will serve as M.C. to present masterful performers such as Herb Ohta-san, Uncle Richard Ho‘opi‘i and Kamakakehau Fernandez. Island food and crafts will be available for purchase. The full line-up features Grammy Award winners and nominees, Na Hoku Hanohano Award winners and a mixture of senior players and young rising stars from the community. Admission is free.
